People compare various things and people to Nazi Germany so often, we have lost track.
While we don't doubt that some were seriously offended by Durbin's remark, the whole "I'm Bill Frist and I'm so shocked that someone would even think this let alone say it" is a pant load of do-do.
Both sides often try to act shocked and dismayed at the others actions in order to elicit some sort of reaction from the public. However, the republicans seem to be better and not apologizing and coming off as looking principled (or at least relatively principled). This is probably because some of them are more principled (at the very least in easy to understand ways).
I linked earlier to a post in the future, everyone will be Hitler for 15 minutes. Seems like it was very forward thinking.
