The Diligent Delegate is here!

I co-founded a student newspaper The Diligent Delegate! Look for it in and around campus. Maybe next week I will post my column. So far it has gotten rave reviews.

Dang it!

I was going to post my opinion of the Bill Clinton Blow Up, but somebody beat me to it. Anyways here it is
Hillary Clinton has been having problems with the left wing of the Democratic party. With this interview, Bill Clinton has the entire left wing of the Democratic party rallying to him. Some of this solidarity can presumably be transferred to Hillary. And the dangerous move of the left-wing of the party toward Gore and Edwards, and their rise in national and Iowa polls respectively, can perhaps be stopped.

Sharks!

what do you get when you tow a 35 ft. whale carcass out to sea? feeding frenzy! Also some insight into Great White mating patterns. If you like shark footage don't miss this. (I am not responsible for some of the dubious other videos you might find on the site - I have adblock and you should too).

99% aint too bad

So my baseball predictions turned out to be wrong. I am bumed, and will pst something later, but football is here! OK, so 17 of 128 teams since 1990 have started 0-2 and still make the playoffs. Roughly one a year. Also, many 2-0 just had a cupcake schedule to start the season. So here are my predictions:

0-2 team that makes the playoffs: Miami Dolphins
2-0 NFC team that will not make the playoffs: Atlanta Falcons
2-0 AFC team that will not make the playoffs: Jacksonville Jaguars

Reflections on Football Opening Weekend

I wish to God I had said this 4 days ago, because Lord knows, I was thinking it. The Bears will win the superbowl! No doubt about it. 16-0 is not out of the question so keep your eyes on this historic team.

In other news, I am warming up to college football as well. I don't follow it as closely, but I try to catch the big games when I can. So Saturday Notre Dame was demolishing Penn State so I flipped over to Syracuse v. Iowa. Do you know who the captain of Syracuse is? (rhetorical question, of course)........Brendan Carney the punter!!!! That man definitely has a future in politics, b/c I have no idea how he pulled that off. Just when I was thinking this was some sort of scam, he actually made a game-saving play on a 4th quarter field goal to send it to overtime. Not the run of the mill made-the-field-goal type play. Carney was the place holder and showing grace under pressure fielded a bad snap and put the ball down in time for the score. Way to go.

I rode the pink line today!

So I was helping a friend/coworker move from his apartment in my hometown (Oak Park) to another apt. in Oak Park and decided to take a stroll down memory lane. My old house looks to be well kept, and the lady who lives there gave me the hairy eyeball as I leaned my head over the fence from the alley. haha. Anyways I took the Green line back into the city b/c it was closer to where I live. I was standing there when it suddenly hit me: I could transfer to the pink line at Ashland, and that would actually make sense!

So I got off and I had to ask the CTA employee which way was 54/Cermak. It was on the other side and I saw a train approaching so I ran over the bridge. Turned out it was just another green line. Then a pink came on the other side of the tracks and I was so pumped up as the tension crescendoed. A guy with a pink shirt joined me on the patform and I asked him

"You dressed for the occasion?"

At which point he just looked at me like "I don't know you." The pink line came and it turned out he was waiting for the green line anyways. My bad. For those that know Chicago, the buildings in the west loop are in general short. The view looking East from the pink line is AMAZING! One of the best I ever seen. The west...not so good. Too bad I didn't have my camera - I made a promise to start carrying it around and now I know why I should stick to that.

Tis the season

To get political again. I never mentioned the Valerie Plame affair simply because I tend to not believe conspiracy theories. Turns out I was right yet again; at least implicitly. For your amusement check out this link and check out just for a few moments how much emotional energy this Josh guy and his "friends" devoted to this. His first post is July 30, 2003, 12:22 AM EDT (why this was keeping him up at night? you'll have to ask him). The last post is August 27, 2006, 08:47 AM EDT where he is having trouble facing the music
Not everyone is buying Armitage's version of events [in the Plame affair], and I'm not sure I do either.
hahahahahahahahahahahaha. I tried counting how many posts there were, but I quit at 50 since I wasn't even making a dent. My eyeball estimate is 500+. Where's a vast right wing conspiracy when you really need one?

Cubs in last place

In their march to the bottom the Cubs passed the Pirates yesterday. Now they only have to outsuck the Royals and Devil Rays. If you go through the archives you will see that I not only picked the Cubs to finish in last place, but I added "They will be the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked." I am Nostradamus.

Go Green

The Green party will be fielding a full field of candidates in Illinois elections. Awesome! I haven't looked carefully yet, but without a doubt one of the most dispicable acts in politics in our era is the Democrats relentless efforts to sue, discredit, and belittle the Green party.
